Tony Psaila
Chief Instructor Tony Psaila, a data analyst / business analyst with the Australian Tax Office, joined the Adelaide branch of the IWCA in 1981. Having previously trained in Judo and Karate, he chose to learn Wing Chun after developing an interest in Hong Kong action movie star Bruce Lee.
Inst. Tony was branch instructor at Highbury during the mid 1980s and served as Assistant State Manager from 1984-87, then State Manager from 1988-1990 in the Adelaide school. He continues to train at Adelaide branch and often travels to our interstate branches to conduct workshops.
Says Inst. Tony, "Sifu Jim Fung’s and Sigung Chu’s generosity in teaching, their humility and gentle nature as gentlemen and brilliance as exponents of Wing Chun sit very well with the virtues espoused by the Christian faith that I hold so dearly. To me, the greatest benefit in learning has been in allowing all those wonderful things I have acquired from Sifu, Sigung and the instructors who have taught me over the years to be passed on with the same spirit of generosity as shown to me. There is great joy in giving and seeing people grow as a result and I believe that it was this that made Sifu Jim such a great example for me and everyone else who came in contact with him."
"I consider all members of the Academy, irrespective of skill level or position, as family and I treat this family with the same love and respect as I do my own. I find it a great privilege, honour and responsibility to be associated with the Academy and foresee a long-lasting friendship and relationship with it."
