Gold Coast HQ (QLD)

The Academy regrets to inform you that its Gold Coast Headquarters and Suburban Branches in Queensland have closed as of the 31st of December 2011.

Gold Coast HQ, located at 46 Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise, was established in the year 2000 and became the third permanent State Headquarters to be opened by the International Wing Chun Academy in Australia. Over its 11 years of operation, the Gold Coast HQ generated a thriving domestic and international student base and was frequented by the Academy's founder, Grandmaster Jim Fung, up until his passing in 2007. Its modern facilities and close proximity to local shops, restaurants and the beach made it the premiere location on the Gold Coast to learn Grandmaster Jim Fung's Wing Chun Kung Fu®.

From 2009, Australia suffered a significant decline in its export education industry, which had a direct effect on Gold Coast HQ's international student base. The challenges brought about by the national decline in international students were compounded by changes in the global economy, failing economic conditions in the Queensland region (particularly following the devastating floods of 2010 to 2011), and regulatory changes in the Australian vocational education sector. After careful consideration, the Academy made the decision to discontinue operations in Queensland at the end of 2011 in order to focus on its operations in New South Wales and South Australia.

The Academy extends its sincere apologies to all students affected by the closure and thanks its Queensland staff for their years of service and contribution to the Academy.

All students of Gold Coast HQ are invited to continue their journeys in the unique training programme of Grandmaster Jim Fung's Wing Chun Kung Fu® at any of the Academy's many training locations in NSW and SA which will continue to operate as normal.

The Academy remains positive that it will be able to offer training opportunities in Grandmaster Jim Fung's Wing Chun Kung Fu® to Queensland residents again in the near future.
