Risk Management Plan
Purpose
Creating a child-safe environment involves:
- Identifying environmental risks to children's safety related to the Academy's activities, services, physical settings, and online spaces and communication.
- Taking action to reduce these risks and children's exposure to harm or abuse.
These risks can change over time if our physical and online spaces evolve, or if the Academy offers different activities or services. Unique events, such as public workshops or demonstrations, may also impact these risks.
Nature of Services Provided
The International Wing Chun Academy provides self-defence training to children from the ages of four and above.
Age-based Assignment to Classes
We typically assign students to specific classes based on their age range and conduct these classes at designated locations. For example:
- Little Dragons classes are taught exclusively at our Sydney (Pitt St) school and are for children aged 4 to 11.
- Teen Phoenix classes are taught exclusively at our Sydney (Pitt St) school and are for children aged 10 and older.
All other Wing Chun classes across our schools are open to adults and teens aged 13 and above. However, some may accommodate slightly younger participants at the discretion of the Training Supervisor and where it is safe to do so.
Training Locations
The Academy operates schools around Greater Sydney. You may view a complete list of our training locations at https://www.wingchun.edu.au/locations
We also periodically conduct off-site workshops at schools and other public venues, adhering to our comprehensive policies and procedures, including those related to child safety.
Risk Management Plan Responsibility
The Training Supervisor is responsible for developing, overseeing, and periodically reviewing the Risk Management Plan.
All staff, trainers and volunteers at the Academy are responsible for ensuring that risk management strategies are implemented and monitored.
