Over 53 Years of Professional Instruction

Our Academy was established in 1973 by Grandmaster Jim Fung, one of the world's leading Wing Chun masters.

We've operated dozens of schools throughout Australia and have developed a reputation for our professional and systematic way of teaching our unique system of Wing Chun Kung Fu for realistic self-defence.

We were also the first school to receive Australian Government accreditation and raise martial arts to the vocational level through our Certificate in Wing Chun Instruction in 1989. These courses attracted thousands of local and international students, many of whom established schools locally and abroad.

We now focus on providing martial arts and self-defence classes to adults, women, teenagers and children at our Wing Chun schools across Sydney, as well as Corporate Workshops and workshops for schools and community groups.

We also offer a pathway for students to become professional martial arts instructors through our Instructor Course, with opportunities to either Work With Us or establish their own schools through our Affiliated Schools Programme.

A Practical Approach to Self Defence Training

Our unique system, known as Grandmaster Jim Fung's Wing Chun Kung Fu®, was developed by Grandmaster Fung over his 47 years of experience as one of the world's top Wing Chun masters. It has been further refined and streamlined by his son, Tristan Fung, who has over 30 years of Wing Chun experience.

Our system focuses on applying the practical skills of Wing Chun to realistic self-defence situations. From your first lesson, you'll learn how to punch, kick and defend yourself against the most common types of attack. Each class includes a dedicated beginner group, which means that you can start training at any time.

Join an Authentic Lineage with Real Heritage

Wing Chun's techniques are based on natural body movements, making it one of the easiest martial arts to imitate. Consequently, the Wing Chun world has been flooded by schools and teachers of dubious backgrounds, especially following the success of the Ip Man film series.

Our founder, Grandmaster Jim Fung, was the top student of Chu Shong Tin, a closed-door disciple of the legendary Ip Man (Yip Man). Grandmaster Fung was also the 'Permanent Director' of Yip Man's Ving Tsun (Wing Chun) Athletic Association in Hong Kong. The VTAA also recognises his son, Tristan Fung, as a 'Sifu' (Master).
